Let’s Talk… gamma chi!

A Letter from Our Gamma Chi Directors:

Hi! This is Reagan Vidrine and Taylor Daugherty, the Directors of Recruitment Counselors and Operations on the 2024 Panhellenic Executive Council! Our job is to make sure that your Recruitment Counselor, called a “Gamma Chi,” is prepared to be there for you and guide you during recruitment. We are beyond excited for you to meet this amazing team of women we have hand-picked to make your experience the best it can be!

What is a Gamma Chi?

Your Recruitment Counselor, or Gamma Chi (GX), is an undergraduate Panhellenic member at LSU. Gamma Chis disaffiliate from their chapters during recruitment and are here to help you throughout the recruitment process! Whether it is down the row during events, or over the phone at the end of the day. Your Gamma Chi will be there to help you make decisions and be your best friend during the entire week. She has been through recruitment as a PNM and, as an active member. Because of this, she has a unique outlook on the recruitment process and will be there for you every step of the way!

What is disaffiliation?

Because your Gamma Chi is in a sorority, she went through the same process that you are going through now! During Recruitment, Gamma Chis “disaffiliate” from their chapter, meaning they are not in contact with their sororities, and it is a secret what sorority they are members of.  At the end of recruitment, on Bid Day, your Gamma Chi will reveal her sorority affiliation. All Gamma Chis disaffiliate so that you, the Potential New Member (PNM), will feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and ideas with her throughout the week.

What else do I need to know?

Your Gamma Chi will be your friend, your guide, and your encourager throughout the week. She will help you keep an open mind and talk through your thoughts as you make your decisions during recruitment. The week before recruitment, she will give you a text or call, so make sure to answer! She will pass on important information about the recruitment week and answer any questions you might have. You will meet her in person during the Ice Water round, along with the other 10-15 girls in your Gamma Chi group. Try and make friends with your group! This process is so much easier and so much more fun with new friends.

If you have any more questions about Gamma Chis, feel free to reach out to us at lsuphcgammachi@gmail.com. For more information and to stay updated on Recruitment 2024, follow @lsupanhellenic on social media!

We can’t wait to see the row filled with PNMs in August! We will be sure your Gamma Chi has everything she needs to know in order to give you the best, most enjoyable week yet!

With love,

Reagan & Taylor
